for supporters of the local Dallas fashion scene”.
This past Monday, the Dallas Weekly newspaper
sent out a press release announcing Fashion Week Dallas. That's right - the
holy grail of local fashion, which has been whispered and wished, finally got a
date: January 16-22, 2012!
Monday the runway swirled with mauves, hand
beaded reds, jeweled greens and
gold…. That combination woven into the fabric of talent like Ruby Bhandari and
her designers, Vanita Tahim and Sidra Zaidi was a scene to be seen! The SOCIAL
list by Silk Threads is known for offering distinctive wearable art… a melding
of ethnic Indian style and inspired modern designs into a unique, simple,
graceful, trendy collection for today’s smart stylish woman and man. Ruby Bhandari and Silk Threads, recognized in
Dallas as a world market designer, have made their mark in Dallas, Texas and the
United States!

man spearheading this project is Dallas Weekly's newest fashion editor Mahiri
Takai. Takai founded his own production company in 2007 - Mklinks
Models/Fashion Shows and Fashion Syndicate Press - and has produced shows in
London, Florida, Atlanta, and California. Fashion Week Dallas will highlight
the breadth and depth of the talent in Texas and will position Texas (namely Dallas)
as the creative capital we all knew it could be. Among the planned activities,
Fashion Week Dallas will bring in the world’s most exciting emerging fashion
designers to Dallas for the fashion 2012 International Fashion Showcase. There
will also be a major push for Dallas Menswear and an educational project in
collaboration with Designing Dreams and FIT.
